We are delighted to have recently opened a state of the art sports bar here at the Bay View Hotel Killybegs Co. Donegal.

With 2 screens and one extra large plasma screen the sports bar is now a go to for all leading matches and major sporting events.

It is situated on the 1st floor in the Cocktail Bar and has stunning views of Killybegs and the busy harbour.

Our delightfully appointed Lukes Restaurant at the Bay View Hotel Killybegs Co. Donegal on the First Floor overlooking the Harbour has amazing views.

Lukes is now back open for the season ahead.  June – Friday to Sunday from 6pm-9pm.  July & August is Wednesday to Sunday from 6pm-9pm and from September onwards; Friday, Saturday & Sunday from 6pm-9pm.

Breakfast can also be enjoyed in Lukes daily.

What Our Visitors Say

My husband and I stayed here with our 2 children for 3 nights during their mid term break. We had a room with a double and 2 single beds which was great. The room was a good size and clean but was at the back of the hotel so lacked a sea view, although this didn’t matter much as we didn’t intend spending much time in the room anyway. (I would advise turning the radiators off at night as it did get very warm) The food in the hotel was great. The bar menu had a good range of options for adults and kids and we ate here for lunch and dinner a few times during our stay. The portion sizes were great and we were particularly fond of the seafood chowder. Breakfast was also a hit with adults and kids alike. There is no car park however we found it easy to park on the road close by or the free public car park out the front of the hotel. There is also a good play park on the opposite side of the main road within walking distance and a fab beach (Fintra beach) a short car journey away. Overall we enjoyed our stay and look forward to returning in the future. Stayed February 2017, travelled with family

Visited here for 2 nights over the weekend. Excellent value for money, hotel is spotlessly clean and the staff are very helpful. The food in the bar is top class and the breakfast in the morning is well worth it. Will definitely return. Stayed February 2017, travelled with family

“Excellent Weekend Break”

This hotel is central, clean and comfortable. The bar serves good tasty food and is very reasonable. The lunch and evening meals were faultless. The room was comfortable and even though it looked out on the harbour and road side noise was not an issue. Staff were friendly and very accomodating. Would recommend to anyone needing to stay in Killybegs. Stayed February 2017, travelled with family

Sliabh Liag Cliffs

Some of the highest and finest marine cliffs in Europe, County Donegal’s Sliabh Liag (Slieve League in English) are not to be missed.  We are delighted to say they are just a short 30 minute drive from the hotel.  Although less famous than the Cliffs of Moher in County Clare, Sliabh Liag reaches almost three times higher.

As you get toward the top of Sliabh Liag – which at 601m (1,972 ft) high is not a place for the faint-hearted – there are terrific views of the Atlantic Ocean, Donegal Bay and the Sligo Mountains.

Sliabh Liag was also the site of a Christian pilgrimage for more than a 1,000 years, although it’s believed to have been a sacred place long before the Christians arrived.

Given the landscape’s rich history, there is a lot you can learn at the visitor centre, where you’ll also get a taste of the local food, culture and unique sense of humour.

FINTRA BEACH

Fintra Beach, Blue Flag Beach KillybegsFintra Beach is a beautiful Blue Flag beach just a couple of kilometres outside Killybegs, where you can swim and enjoy the strand with its stunning views across Donegal Bay to the mountains of Sligo.

Fintra receives large numbers of day-trippers during the summer months and is also used by the local community.

It is a very sheltered beach and is lifeguarded throughout the bathing season.

There is a car park beside the beach and a few stone steps leading down to the beach.

Tours to the magnificent Sliabh Liag Cliffs, the highest sea cliffs in Europe standing 601m (1,972 feet).

You will get close to the shore to appreciate this spectacular sight.

Sometimes you may be joined by wildlife like dolphins, whales, seals, and in May and June you often see basking sharks feeding on the plankton.  There is also a wide range of bird life that can be seen nesting and hunting.

You can go swimming in the crystal clear water of the many coves on the tour.  We can provided wetsuits if you think the water is cold but most don’t need them.
