What Our Visitors Say
We chose this place because of its proximity to Slieve League. It was about 30 minutes from Slieve League and an excellent end to the day. The hotel is very clean and the rooms appeared to have been recently updated. We ate dinner and breakfast in the hotel and enjoyed both. We booked the sea view room and I could have stayed in my chair for days enjoying the view. There were two reading chairs in front of the large windows that were perfect for just hanging out. What a lovely stay we had at the Bay View Hotel in Killybegs. We were in the area to do the Turas Cholmcille but the walk turned out to be much longer than we expected and even though the weather was lovely, there had been rain on the previous day so the going was tough. To cut a long story short, I fell into a hole and ended up thigh deep in muck so we arrived at the Bay View much later than we had expected, covered in muck and feeling very sorry for ourselves. However, from the minute we stepped into the hotel the whole situation was transformed. After a quick (and very necessary) bath in our lovely room we had a gorgeous meal in the dining room (we were so late, we had the dining room to ourselves), The food, wine and relaxing music were just perfect (thanks Marcella, just what we needed). After a great sleep we awoke to the most glorious view of the harbour from our huge window, sun shining and feeling great. Breakfast was lovely, buffet style and plenty of it and then we discovered there was a craft fair on downstairs in the hotel where I bought a gorgeous necklace for half nothing! Unfortunately we only stayed one night as we couldn’t change our onward plans, but we would have loved to have stayed longer. Stayed June 2017
First time in Killybegs and very very pleasantly surprised!!The weather gave it something of an Algarve feel to the place. Just lovely. Found the Bay View online and phoned to book. Very reasonable. Parking wasn’t a problem right in front of the hotel, maybe something to do with the schools open again but despite other reviews saying parking was difficult I had no problem. Inside the foyer and reception area are very welcoming as are the staff. It was explained that the Leisure Centre is closed, I think both myself and the receptionist tried to to smirk as I didn’t look too interested in a leisure centre. Say no more . Upstairs the room certainly had a view -which was a very welcome surprise as it wasn’t requested. Lovely spacious room. Very relaxing and neutral cream colours which were welcoming. The place was absolutely spotless. Yes the furniture isn’t Ritz stuff but it’s bright and clean, indeed to be honest a welcome relief from the dreary mahogany you get in most hotels. Just can’t get over how relaxing the room was. Room 203. Yes there is noise… be ready for it and it came from the port across the road not from the hotel. It’s constant but you get used to it and would go with a room view in any of the hotels or rooms along the front. It may have been just that night as I didn’t notice it during the day. Best biscuit selection in room of any hotel I’ve been in – small thing I know. Breakfast was lovely. All self service except for the tea and coffee which gives you a wonderful sense of freedom and independence, nicely relaxed, not that the staff aren’t very attentive. Didn’t have cause to use the bar or restaurant. The cocktail bar upstairs looks nice. The very motherly lady on breakfast could well be the owner as she takes tremendous pride in the place. Checkout was so easy and friendly. Overall very happy with both the Bay View and Killybegs, both very homely and welcome. Would love to come back with more time and explore the area better. All I wanted was a bed fir the night. I genuinely feel I got more than that. Cheers!!! Stayed September 2017
Tours to the magnificent Sliabh Liag Cliffs, the highest sea cliffs in Europe standing 601m (1,972 feet).
You will get close to the shore to appreciate this spectacular sight.
Sometimes you may be joined by wildlife like dolphins, whales, seals, and in May and June you often see basking sharks feeding on the plankton. There is also a wide range of bird life that can be seen nesting and hunting.
Did you ever dream of swimming at the foot of the Sliabh Liag Cliffs??? Well now you can…
You can go swimming in the crystal clear water of the many coves on the tour. We can provided wetsuits if you think the water is cold but most don’t need them.
A unique experience for everyone.
